People with Dementia Live a Full Life

At To Whom I May Concern®, our vision of the future is a world where “people with dementia live a full life.”

We believe that taking down the barriers that prevent people living with dementia from living a full life depends on changing the narrative about dementia–the stories we tell about dementia, particularly about the early stages of the disease.

Sharing the stories of people living with early stage dementia is key to changing this narrative. People living with dementia are the best people to share their own stories.

A diagnosis of dementia can turn someone from an “I” to an “It”. To Whom I May Concern® humanizes the experience of dementia so that people living with the diagnosis are seen as “I” again.

How We Support Our Vision: People with Dementia Live a Full Life

Our mission is to:

  • Connect with people living with early stage dementia, and connect them to each other in Sharing Groups
  • Create the framework for people living with early stage dementia to share their stories of living with dementia with the wider public through theatre, with Sharing Group members as the cast
  • Increase the volume of stories shared by training facilitators to use our framework
  • Engage in genuine dialogue between people living with dementia and those concerned
